Initiation into motherhood: intuition, self-belief & standing strong

I was genuinely excited and looking forward to going into labour, much to the amusement of many ūüėČ ¬†I’ve long held a positive view on natural birth, can put myself into a hypnotic trance and I know my body really well through almost 20yrs of yoga and body practices… so whilst I wasn’t totally deluded thinking it would be all fairy dust and daisy chains, I did figure I was pretty set up for it ūüėČ ¬†And so I planed for a drug free, home birth, birthing pool, dimmed lights and minimal intervention from the midwifes… you get the picture.

As with most plans, it’s often the thing you didn’t consider that presents itself…

And for me it was not going into labour until 43 weeks…

Inner journey of pain

When you look inside what do you find? 

Some days it’s beautiful and you feel elated to be alive. 

Other days it’s painful and you want to look away. 

Why does the inner landscape change? 

Because everything changes.

Every moment of every day everything is moving and changing.

So if today you’re finding pain or emptiness, stay with it. It’s beautiful in its own right and has something to share with you.

Don’t turn away. Sink deeper and as you sink deeper watch the flow of change take you on a journey… To wherever.

It doesn’t matter where it leads you.

All you need to be with is the living process of constant change. Change. Change.

Life just is.

You just are. 

We are all journeying every single moment.

The serene power of finding your flow

Well for starters, NO ONE wants a meaningless, stressful, unsatisfying life.

Actually I’ll caveat that – some people rather like to have¬†something to justifiably whinge about… heck we all enjoy it sometimes (if we’re honest ;).

But a long haul soiree of this experience sucks arse and probably delivers you somewhere in the vicinity of ‘my life is over’, ‘please God take me now’, ‘why oh why oh WHY MEEEEEEEEEE’.

Ultimately it’s¬† form of discomfort or pain… and as someone said to me yesterday the benefit of being in discomfort is that it eventually sparks something inside that say’s ENOUGH and you get a surge of energy, creativity or inspiration to get out of it.

When the switch flips and you find yourself saying,

‘I want to feel ALIVE, I want more fun, happiness,¬†success and satisfaction in my life, work and relationships’,

How to spot who’s sucking you dry (and who will add something to your life)

Why addiction is not always bad for you

What do you do when you love something and the ‘world’ tells you ‘but you shouldn’t do that – it’s so baaaaad for you’?

Do you succomb and say ‘ok, you know best‘.

Or do you say ‘wait a second’¬† – which is a¬†nice, polite and Buddhist bunny mindfullness alternative to the more commonly used¬†‘f*ck-off’ ¬†ūüôā¬†¬†– my life, my needs, what’s actually right for me in this situ?

In this case I’ll chatting about coffee (but you could add ciggies, wine, ice-cream etc). ¬†Because I love it. ¬†And the world authority of health, nutrition and boring kill joys – say’s it’s bad to have more than 1 mug a day.

But you (I) love it. ¬†And you (I) want to keep it in your life…but you’re also aware it’s kind of out of control!

Well rest easy I’m not going to tell you to give it up.

I don’t believe in quitting things you love…you just need to add some small measures to keep yourself serene and highly functional!
